Down Memory Lane

I tagged Matt and Willis in my TJ photo album and went through every single photo there was and all the comments that followed... and I found myself laughing over them again. It's been nearly five years since we graduated but somehow these things are still fresh in my mind.

Since everything comes flashing back again, it is time to unveil some dark secrets which have been kept in the deepest abyss of my heart for as long as I can remember. Having said that, I really hope no one follows my footsteps.

Top 5 Bad Not So Good Things I Did During Those Uniformed Days.

1) Pon school.

I was the MC king. Don't feel like going to school? Easy! Polyclinic in front of my house. I dunno how anyone else does it, but I think my acting deserved a nomination in the Star Awards! I came up with a lot of rubbish excuses till I couldn't, at a certain point, I had to go over to Tamp for MC.

I wonder how many days I was on MC for the whole year.

Digressing a little bit, the SARS period was one of my most tyco/shiok/gerek moments in school that I've ever had. During that period, schools were forced to close for a week. In addition to that, once school reopened (7th April I think since SARS meant Seventh April Reopen School), I was to be quarantined at home since my sis-in-law was working at TTSH at that point of time. And during that quarantine period, I was infected with chicken pox.

I did not attend school for a good 1 month or so.

2) Hub myself.

The Hub was the place to be. No facebook yet but I was busy doing my tutorials playing Yahoo! pool and surfing some babes' blogs with moley.

Hate falling asleep in lectures cos of the stupid desks? PON them lar! My frequent hangout when I decided ponning lectures was the alternative way to score As: The Hub. My favourite PC was at a corner on the right side.

My favourite lecture to pon: Biology when it's not the funny Ng lady. The other two J lecturers were great lullaby singers.

3) Shit.

I was a fan of shitting in school. Right.

Well what can I say? The shit just kept on coming every single day. I couldn't possibly hold it till I get home, could I? My favourite toilet buddy was Jon and my favourite toilet was the one at the auditorium. And that's because it's the cleanest out of all the other toilets. Plus it didn't seem freaky enough like the one next to The Scope.

Oh, a tummyache was one of my common excuses to apply for half day off. So, on days when I didn't feel like spending the afternoon in school, I'd get the pink sheet from General Office and let the tutor sign. 9/10 of the time, the tutor wouldn't ask for an MC to cover you for the rest of the day, unless you're really si bei suay, or the tutor hates your fugly face. If anything crops up (PE dept was quite anal about absence/MCs then), just get your parents to write a letter and then let your tutor acknowledge it. Good thing both my homeroom tutors were the can't-be-bothered sorts. Even facilitated most of my evil plans.

Man, I was such a closet brat.

Well the good thing about doing these dirty things alone is that 1) you won't get others in trouble 2) having no accomplice means planning an escape route each time won't be much of a problem.

4) Doodle during lecture.

If my lecturers notes were still alive, they'd tell you how sick they were of my name. I literally had my name written on every single page in every single pattern possible. I wasn't cool enuff to own colored pens like Yatee so I made do with pencil. I loved to disturb Jon and draw on his notes too. I did nearly everything in lecture except listen attentively to the poor lecturer.

Speaking of which, I remember TKX suddenly calling out my name during lecture for I dunno what. I was jolted from my daydreaming when everyone turned to look at me. It was quite embarrassing, thanks TKX.

I also loved to stone during tutorials, especially GP. I hated GP. No matter how much I tried to write, it was never up to her expectations. Perhaps I was really lousy, so I just stoned. While others were staring at a particular longkang, I was just daydreaming about food/home/sleep etc.

5) People-watch in the cafeteria.

There were lots to see there during lunch breaks. Good and bad. One could easily spot the school belle (if any) in the sea of disgusting green. It's harder to find the ugliest swan around though, because ugly is subjective and population in question was relatively large.

The end.

Now I know why I didn't perform well in the A levels as I should have.
