2007

And now let the weak say I am strong
Let the poor say I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us
Give thanks.

2007 hasn't exactly been the best year of my life, (in fact I felt 2006 was a better year for me) but the fact that I am able to pen down this entry to mark the very end of the year is already a good enough reason to be thankful for.

I am grateful that I am still alive and in the pink of health, that my loved ones and I have not been in any forms of precarious situation, that everyone of us here in Singapore is safe and sound, and that we still have food to eat, money to spend and a shelter above our heads. I am also thankful that my parents are still going strong for 30 odd years, that my siblings are blissfully married and that I have friends from primary school, secondary school, junior college, army, university, facebook whom I keep in touch with. I also want to express my thanks for the things I've owned, branded or otherwise, for the new people I've met, for the decent grades I get, for the love I give and receive and for the very comfortable life that I lead.

At a glance, I thought 2007 was pretty insignificant, but now that I've listed them out, so many good things have happened. I guess these nitty gritty aspects of life, which people usually fail to see and appreciate, have always been taken for granted. All in all, it really makes me feel grateful that my life albeit simple and average is not lacking in anything in any way. Well except moolah for personal use.

Important lessons learnt from 2007.

  • Be more sensitive to other people.

Perhaps I've been blunt to many around me. Sometimes I think I shoot whatever comes to mind not caring about how people will feel. This year, I've learnt to be more understanding and be mindful of what I say lest I hurt others. Afterall, the world is not about me and ME only.

  • Treasure loved ones.

Siti's death was a blow to many people, including myself. I've been an unappreciative friend and up till now, I reproach myself for not picking up that very important call. I don't want to regret not cherishing others enough when it's only too late to do so. Let this be a lesson learnt for everybody. It takes days, weeks, months, even years to bring people together but it just takes a moment or two.. to separate them.

  • Earning a living is not easy.

I've worked for nearly the whole summer break and I've realised money doesn't come easy. As a part-time worker paid on a hourly basis, I had to work overtime almost everyday to get at most S$1.4K. This lesson learnt also makes me become especially appreciative of my dad who works so hard for the family. I've also learnt not to waste money because hard-earned money is really... hard to earn.
With that, I close 2007 with a Japanese track which I like because of its meaningful lyrics. It's a song about family, lovers, friends, basically anyone who shares a bond with each other.

To everyone who has made my 2007 meaningful, thanks for being a covalent bond. *laughs at his own joke*

Happy New Year, Goodbye 2007, Hello 2008! =)

Psycho

A friend of mine showed me a blog and now I'm pretty disturbed by it.

Here's why: (in order of priority)

1) She's not hot.
2) The sex count she does has reached 58 by mid-Oct. Geylang hotels are her playgrounds. She solicits sex through adpost.
3) She shows her b**bs on the blog. *presses buzzer*
4) She goes in and out of I-M-H a few times a year.
5) She's madly in love with two guys who seem to be toying with her and her body.
6) She is aNUS grad. (Pt 4 and 6 seem to clash, I know)
7) Her emo/suicidal entries are freaky.

It's my first time reading such a blog! And now I am at the "back 200 entries" page. I don't know how long more to go but it shall keep me occupied for the rest of the day. She hasn't updated since October and I think she was warded again.

Here's the URL.

Ha. Ask and you shall be given.

The next Annabel Chong? Hmmm... nowhere close.

p/s: I surfed wikipedia and I just realise Annabel is a Gemini. So is the late Benazir Bhutto. Very random, I know.

Trading Spouses vs Racism

I was having my lunch in front of the telly (yeah bad habit, I know) when this show was aired on Channel 5.

Trading Spouses (often advertised as Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy) is a FOX reality show in which two families, usually of different social classes, swap wives or husbands for a week. Each family is awarded $50,000, with the stipulation that the guest mother decides how her host family must spend the money.
- Wikipedia.org

Watching this show made me realise the racial discrimination in our country is nothing compared to that elsewhere. It's so brazenly obvious it's like spotting a mat in Singapore. (Speaking of which, I don't see bengs and lians these days... the big question: extinction or evolution?) One of the families in today's episode is african-american, so the black guest mom who was swapped into the white family was having problems settling down because of her skin color.

Sensing the tense relationship between the new mom and his daughters (who were bitches btw), the white husband invited the extended relatives for some bbq thingy at his place hoping that that would ease things a little bit. However, ALMOST ALL HIS RELATIVES were giving the black mom weird stares! In her interview, she even said something along the lines of "Is it because I'm black?" (which also reminded me of Ian and his Mad TV craze) One granny came up to her and asked: "What nationality are you?" in a disgusted tone while looking like she just humped a horse and regretted the sensation.

Thankfully, it is not as bad here in SG, though it can get very irritating at times. Building a racially harmonious society is something which I think can be physically achieved but it's never mentally attainable. Deep in the hearts and minds of everyone, there is bound to be slight resentment, if not a lot, for other ethnic groups. This society of ours is so diverse, so multicultural THERE IS NO WAY ANYONE CAN BE ABSOLUTELY TOLERANT. Even as I am saying this, I can just easily quote many instances which can result in such resentment for one another. Having said that, the intolerance we have now doesn't usually get physical, thankfully, unlike in the 60s.

s373n

You know how sometimes trying to recall something you have always known or knew sometime in the past can be irritating because you know it's like that but you just can't put it together?

You see, I have been watching this drama for a few days already, which explains the post below, and since episode 1, I think the lead actor looks like really, really familiar but I just can't relate him to anyone I know. But I am absolutely sure he looks like someone I know!

I finally know the answer at episode 15!

His facial feature resembles that of a platoon mate of mine in bmt, whom we nicknamed CH**BY* LIPS.

HAHAHAHA.

Eyes wide open

Recently, I've been so bored that I have resorted to reading forums to ease my boredom. One of the things that have caught my attention is how the forumers are making a number of unjust speculations about our local celebs. While I was initially swayed by these speculations, I have made a mental note to self not to believe them readily until I witnessed them myself (which is highly unlikely because well, I just can't be bothered to) because I found their subsequent accusations to be tremendously ridiculous.

For the ignoramus, these are what have been spreading in the forums:
1) Two local actors got married in a neighbouring country, on a farm.
2) A certain actor who recently got into top ten most popular in star awards has a small d*^& and is speculated to be bisexual.
3) A pretty well-known celeb who is going to perform at Vivocity's countdown 2008 is speculated to be lesbian.
4) Two local actors are thought to stay in the same block in the same condo for "easy access".
5) Countless celebs undergo double eyelid surgery, nose jobs, boob jobs, facial uplifts, botox, whitening jabs etc and one of them happens to be my very favourite female celebrity. :(

While I may refuse to believe any of the above is true, there is still a glimpse of possibility that these people might be telling the truth afterall. However, seeing is believing so unless I see it with my own eyes, I won't want to believe that it's true.

Jotomate kurasai.

I am believing this one though. Check it out.

2 girls, 1 cup

Syima! This is an exaggerated version of my reaction to that clip.

Don't know about the 2 girls, 1 cup clip? I am not going to put the outrageous clip on my NC-13 blog, but here it is from Syima's. Please follow the instructions lest you really get pimples on your backside.

Now we know why our neighbour sends in Jaclyn Victor for Asian Idol.

It just so happened that he sang one of my favourite songs of all time for the finals, and it is also a song I love to sing in KTV, which makes me even more familiar with it, so I am going a pseudo judge and comment on his singing!

Bad song arrangement aside, I think his singing is too emotionally exaggerated, in other words, very chinese boyband. To be fair I watched the performances of his competitor Nita too (thought she has zero appeal) and overall, I realise the 2nd season pales in comparison with the first. It made Hady and Jonathan sound like Il Divo! (One of my current favourite songs is their song, Regresa A Mi)

And in another attempt to be fair, I also watched Vick (third in place for Season I, Chinese guy) perform the same song (our neighbours love Belaian Jiwa don't they? Actually I love it too.) and I thought Vick fared better than him!

All in all, I'm trying to say that I am better than the Winner of Msian Idol Season II.

And I was thinking, since he is so cheena, he could win Asian Jue Dui Superstar, if there is going to be one in future. Then I realise that is probably not going to happen, given the overwhelming support of pretty faces like Daren Tan by tens of thousands of xiaomeimeis here in Singapore. Don't even forget the power of aunties who will be rooting for busker-turned-superstar CWL.

Clowns

That...totally...butchered...the beautiful song.

"That" includes the singing, dancing, setting, looks, basically everything.

Now my utmost concern is: Is the guy in white (dancing like a cheap whore) David Ong?

Back from nowhere

Exams are over!

Urm okay, old news.

I thought the first thing I'd do when I finished my exams two weeks ago was to head straight home to repay my sleep debt. I ended up at Chinatown for dessert and foot massage.

The foot massage comes with a complimentary back massage for a total of 45 minutes at S$18.

Each of us was attended by a male reflexologist because apparently the rest of them felt that the males would exert more strength on our feet. I wanted to object badly to that, but when I looked around, all I saw was old women who looked like they were also going to offer 'other services' so that pretty much sealed my fate.

At this point of time, I can just imagine Jonathan going "EEEE. You let the guy touch you!"

I admit the feeling was quite shiok even though it wasn't my first time visiting a reflexologist. In order to make the massage worth the money (yes, typical Singaporean. Proud to be one), I queried the reflexologist about my ailments.

JY and Ian both got a young guy, while I got an old man. SOUNDS DAMN WRONG I KNOW. I suspect the old man didn't exert much force on my feet because both of them were yelping in pain with their respective reflexologists while I was happily laughing at them throughout the session. I think he must be conserving his energy for his night time activities nearby... Hm.

Anyway, he told me I have problems relating to stress (head), sleeping habits and posture (back). Told me to exercise more, have sufficient sleep, etc. Basically general advice one'd give. I also know! I also suspect he anyhow say because at that point of time, I was exercising quite frequently.

Enchanted with my ex-colleagues from TH.

I guess the whole world would have already caught this movie, so will not bore with the details.

Overall nice movie to catch with loved ones.

Xmas tree at Vivocity after the movie.

My SEK810i takes lovely pictures.

The songs were all in my head that night.

Remind me never to go Mambo on Wed nights right after end of exams again. I could barely move. The crowd was bad. I spent a quarter of the night at Phuture which played crappy R'n'B music and the crowd was worse than that at Zouk.

Question: Is that old man on the platform a resident clubber or a dancer from the club?

Okay I think I am going to answer that myself since I think Zouk wouldn't hire old men to be dancers? Ha ha. The last time I went Mambo before this was roughly a year ago, and I can still recognise him in the dark far away from the platform. He's crazy, he knows every single dance move of every song.

Damn. After writing up on Mambo, I feel like a childish 18 year old NSF blogging about his clubbing experiences.

Brought my nephew to see monkeys at Sembawang.

Yesyes, no feeding allowed. While we were driving past them, the monkeys came so near to us so I snapped this picture. Damn it's supposed to show her tits!

And I saw a couple making out in the car there in broad daylight. Cheapskate.

Sakae buffet with Sasyang.

(I just went to their website and this weird song came on. Just what were they thinking???)

We reached the restaurant at 5 and buffet was going to end by 6 (last order by 530), so being a typical Singaporean, I made Sas order a lot of dishes which totalled up to 48 plates in the end. Very greedy I know, we had a hard time finishing up the last few plates.

The one on the pink plate (see picture) tasted horrible. I had a hard time finishing it.

Walked to Esplanade as I knew there was going to be a live performance there.

My phone takes spectacular shots.

Really!

R-21! My dunno-how-many-eth R-21 show already.

Slapstick I tell you. Jonathan got horny during the bedroom scenes!

And I wasn't stopped for ID!

---

I am lovin' my holidays.
