HAPPY BDAY TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!

I have two bdays this year. One is the Singapore Bday and the other is the US Bday. For the ignoramus, there is a 12 hour time difference between SG and NY, so I can celebrate two bdays!!!

On my SG Bday, my friends treated me to a pretty good Chinese dinner at this Hong Kong restaurant called Flower Drum Song. And that was my first decent rice meal in 3 weeks. It was so so so so good.

Then at night we went to the girls' place to discuss plans about NYC (Will be there 9-12 June) And then by the time we walked back to the guys' room, it was already 12 am and the guys sang me a bday song outside the cabin.

And then we had some drinks (non alcoholic okay, I drank choc milk) and went to bed.

The whole week Anna (n'est pas belle) told the whole work crew including this manager called Nelson who's really nice about my bday and I think the whole world knows about it. They are planning something today which I dunno but I think it's some rice meal again. The China girls can cook nice Sichuan meals and I asked them not to put pork in them.

I'm now going for a birthday haircut at Walmart. Tata.

Smart

I itchy-hand go and change my school email password the other day after hanging out with Angie and sharing stupid email passwords and now I can't remember it.

Arrgghh!

By the way, I'm still alive in NY. Life's been okay so far. People here are really nice, except the custom officers. I get Hellos from strangers all the time! But there was once when me and friends were walking by the roadside, this car of angmohs came by and shouted "Chings!!!" and sped off. Pretty rude if you ask me, but I'm not Chinese haha I don't care!

Reminds me of a joke TTC told the lecture about Chings and the world: If all the Chings in the world were to stand up on a chair and jump from it, the whole world would collapse.

I'll try to blog more often but the Internet connection here is a freaking bitch, they have wireless for the girls and nothing for the guys. Argh.

So this is it...

In 12 hrs time, I'm embarking on a journey to the other side of the World.

It is going to be my first time visiting the States so I'm a little apprehensive about how exactly I'm going to spend the next three months there independently without the parents but I'm going to brace myself up for the best. Then again, I also have two friends going to the same place so it isn't going to be so bad, is it?

The last few days have been quiet and peaceful. Hung out with groups of friends I am going to cherish for the rest of my life. You people know who you are, and I'm still going to say that even when I know most of you may not read it anyways. The family has been great too, they've been giving in to my every need and want, from food craving in the middle of the night to driving me to places which I wanna see for the last time before I leave. I love you Dad, I love you Mom.

Thanks for the well-wishes from friends most of whom I was unable to reply in time to - I was busy packing my luggage the whole damn day. To anyone who wants to reach me can e-mail me using my MSN addy (if you don't have it, it's XXX@gmail.com where XXX stands for my real name) or just visit Facebook and write on my wall - I'll reply when I'm free. Updates on this blog is also possible if I manage to find a good Internet connection down there. Take note however I'm not bringing laptop OR handphone so please do NOT sms unnecessarily.

Today, I went for my last Supper in Singapore before I depart. Best friend treated me to a sumptouous Chinese Fried Rice with Strawberry Green Tea. Bubble tea leh! Can find in US? I dunno for sure but I'm not going to take risks!

Last ever bubble tea in Singapore. Sweet talk bubble tea for SGD1 each, can you believe it? Even aunty see I leaving then gimme discount.

Chinese-style fried rice. I thought it tasted a bit salty and attributed the weird taste to the uncle's tears while he was preparing my last meal in SG.

I'm so going to miss my room.

It may not be the cleanest room ever, nor is it the biggest one too, but the fact is it IS my room and I love it. Slept in it for as long as I can remember, spent my most private moments here (being emo and depressed and also frustrated among other things), it is THE place I'm going to treasure the most when I'm not in SG.

You've been reminded that it is not clean.

It is gd to note though that it is already cleaner than usual.

My laptop and desk.

My wonderful bed which has served me since Junior College.

My messy tops all over the place (I was still busy packing!)

When I feel like I'm missing home so bad, I'd give Mom a call and go online to see these pictures again. Perhaps my homesickness may recover temporarily.

So... this is IT. The time has come for me to bid the final goodbye here. I would really love to pen this entry til' the cows come home but I figure the cows need sleep too.

Take care people, I'll be back before you know it.

Signed off,
Khas the New Yorker.

STOP PROCRASTINATING!!!

I should really start packing for NY.

Nehneh says the weather at Albany now is mighty freezing cold (okay I'm exaggerating) but it's much, much colder than Singapore so he's going to stock up on thick clothes. HARRRR, summer program and thick clothes machiam don't go together hor?

He adds that the weather is going to be pretty rainy the few days we arrive in Albany (I saw the weather forecast myself) and so he's going to bring raincoat as well! Coincidentally, before I got to know about the rainy weather, I already had the intention of buying a hoodie. So rainy weather is pretty settled.

I'm just going to bring two tees and a pair of jeans for going out. Okay will update more on the luggage soon. And perhaps the story about OCH conquerors if I have time...

Are you in line?

In an impromptu decision, I stayed over in sch last night so this morning I was crawling my way back home from the West. And the story began when I was queueing up for the bus at PR Interchange. Believe it or not, it was that same place where I bumped into the homo looking man a few entries back.

For the ignoramus, the stone slabs at PR Interchange did not stretch throughout the bus queue line, so when I reached the queue, there were already a few people in front of me and for god knows what reason, they chose to stand right in front where there were no seats instead of sitting down at the slabs. Fine, their problem.

When I turned around, I caught sight of this young lady (early 20s) walking towards me in the queue. Quite cute if you ask me but I was too tired to care then. Just like the man in blue a few entries back, she chose to stand instead of sit on the slab. Fine, her problem.

And this was where the funny part began.

She then proceeded to ask me : "Hi, are you in line?"

Ermmmm... No no no, I just sat at the bus queue to wait for you to ask me this question. LIKE DUH. If I weren't, why the flying f would I be sitting down there like a loser?

I know some may say it's just basic courtesy on her part but wtheck, isn't it OBVIOUS enough? It's the same as asking me if I was all right after some random vehicle knocked me down while I was crossing the road to Clementi Intchg. Hello, I'm sprawled on the ground and you asked me if I'm all right?

But that's not the main point. After I gave her an affirmative reply, she asked me:

"Can I go in front?"

The distance between me and the person in front was at most 30 cm. There was nobody behind her at that point of time, so the reason that other people behind got no space to sit was invalid.

After another tired reply, she proceeded in front of me. It was then that I realised she touched her hair every 2 seconds or so. She's not only kiasu but narcissistic as well. Bad combi.

When the bus came, the guy in front of her was still leaning against the railing and she stood so near him machiam want to signal to him she's so going to cut his queue if he's going to take his own sweet time. The bus is not going anywhere (ok fine it IS going somewhere, but what I'm saying is the bus is not moving at that moment and she'd have ample time to board it and find a good seat), and even if she's rushing for time and she managed to get up the bus fast, there are still so many other people whom the bus driver would need to wait for what?

And so it all boils down to Kiasuism.
